CWHT is committed to carrying out high standard, on-site health screening and good health promotion for workers within the construction industry. The purpose of the CWHT Health Screening
Programme is to provide workers with a focused screening that provides a snapshot of their health at a given point in time.
CWHT’s clinical governance framework provides a robust structure for our CWHT registered nurses through which clinical accountability, quality improvement and professional integrity are maintained.
The purpose of this framework is to ensure that our CWHT registered nurses are supported in oƯering, high-quality, focused, health screening which reflects national best practice.
Clinical Governance within CWHT incorporates the three core pillars of;
Recognised high standards of care
Transparent responsibility and accountability for those standards of care
An ethos of continuous improvement
Leadership within CWHT encourages a culture of clinical compliance, openness and transparency, mutual respect and support, co-operation and collaboration. Trust and confidentially is paramount to
our practices.
All CWHT registered nurses are expected to adhere to relevant Irish legislation and regulation, to work within their scope of practice and professional code of conduct, The Code of Professional Conduct
and Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives, NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland), February 2025 (NMBI - Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics), be aware of and compliant
with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) legislation and to work within the standards of best practice issued by HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) and the HSE (Health Service
Executive).
StaƯ training and continuous professional development is an essential part of our clinical governance framework. All clinical staƯ are required to maintain their professional registration with NMBI
(Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland), demonstrate a strong understanding of adherence to their scope of practice, and participate in continuous learning and professional development.
We maintain robust processes for documenting both clinical and operational incidents. This allows us to promote a culture of safety and accountability within our organisation.
CWHT has partnered with Cushla Health to build and manage CWHT’s digital health screening booking, recording and results communication processes including the provision of a personal
electronic health record app (the Cushla app). CWHT is the data controller in this digital health screening management process and Cushla is the data processor in this partnership. All clinical data
from a participant’s health screening is collected, processed and stored securely, in line with legal, ethical and clinical confidentiality standards. All data collected is used for its intended clinical and
administrative purposes and with the consent of the participants. Trust and confidentiality is paramount to our practice.
Continuous improvement lies at the centre of our governance approach. We ensure this through peer review, team feedback and reporting and the of the CWHT Clinical Governance Committee. This
ensures our procedures are continuously evolving in line with current best practice and external oversight is provided.
