HEALTH SCREENING IS AT THE CORE OF WHAT WE DO.
Since 2004 our nurses have provided health checks for more than 100,000 Irish construction workers at their own workplaces. Our health screening nurses have visited thousands of workplaces throughout the country. The CWHT uses the most up to date portable diagnostic equipment and a digitally supported test recording system. Results are immediate and are discussed with the worker and health and lifestyle advice given as appropriate. Results are written into the worker health booklet and are also sent electronically to the worker's Personal Electronic Health Record (PEHR) App, which CWHT sponsors. The PEHR app allows the worker to log any subsequent medial consultation data and results, add medications they may be taking and integrate their wearables. Each Friday morning we publish a health information article to the app which supports workers to engage in understanding and maintaining good health.
The one to one screening with our health screening nurse starts with a general pre-screening conversation about the worker's health and lifestyle. The nurse then carries out 5 basic tests:
BLOOD PRESSURE TEST
FULL CHOLESTEROL SCREEN (finger-prick, no fasting required)
DIABETES HBA1C TEST (finger-prick, no fasting required)
HEIGHT, WEIGHT, & BODY MASS INDEX.
LUNG FUNCTION CHECK
Following the tests the nurse will have a chat with the worker about their results and provide lifestyle advice if necessary. They may also make a recommendation to attend their GP. Workers who do not have a GP can avail of a our GP access agreement with Centric Health.
