Healthy Heart
Keeping a healthy heart is about sensible eating and regular exercise, coupled with a regular checkup.

You can help yourself by eating a balanced diet. That means cutting down on high fat foods, and processed foods containing too much salt, and eating instead, fresh fruit and vegetables, and all other things in moderation.

The next big no no is smoking. If you smoke then quit now. You are twice as likely to develop heart disease as a smoker, so there's no argument...just quit.
Next there's the drink. Stick to the recommended weekly maximum...21 units for a man and 14 units for a woman. In plain English that's 11 pints a week for a man and 7 for a woman. In fact it has been shown that a couple of drinks on a regular basis are actually good for your heart...but just a couple mind.
Next keep an eye on your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. CWHT checks both of these at our health screening clinics. We give each worker a blood pressure and cholesterol test and we give the results on the spot. About 30 % of the workers who visit our on site clinics have high blood pressure and a similar number have high cholesterol.
Remember these conditions are easily treatable.
An integral part of our health screening is heart health awareness.
